This term we are becoming Landscape artists. So we started of with a studio session, practising our texture and mark making. Remembering our 5 skills of drawing and then we drew a city scape made from boxes. This was great practice for understanding the forms that surround us. During this class we learnt about Turner, how he painted what was around him, which is what landscape painting are and we found a lovely Turner quote “my job is to draw what I see not what I know”. The children found drawing cubes very like maths….it was hard work but the drawings were very strong and will help get them looking at their landscape, maybe in a new way……..
