Drawing Practice

This week the class was focused on building the rhythm of the first session with an hour of drawing followed by some fun with colour! Kate encouraged the kids to explore the marks a pencil can make with some exercises to push the boundaries of what they thought they could and couldn’t do and they discussed what everyone thought drawing was about. The class was divided into teams to play with painting on a huge canvas and to continue colouring Ali’s hand-drawn typography that will hopefully be used on our calico bags. Flow and creativity was also discussed, the children learning that if you can recognise this in yourself then you can use it in all areas of your life. And of course the class was rounded up with continuing to explore and re-draw the artist’s postcards, including a re-rendering of one of Ali’s!
